Summer Hiatus

As in summer's past, I won't be posting much, if at all. Where will I be? What will I be doing? Hammering out a literary project, which is what I've been toiling at for some time now. Time to finish! I also hope to take a trip or two to clear my head. Always a good thing.

I hope you will have a wonderful summer, and look forward to catching up with you in the fall.

The Power of Vowels

Manuel García called vowels flesh and consonants bone, his students beginning each lesson intoning the former with a coup de glotte. Jenny Lind found her voice in doing so. 

Giulia Valda tells us that more than one student of Francesco Lamperti spent years practicing vowels exclusively, thereby maintaining vocal youthfulness into old age.
